People use the Internet today for absolutely everything in their lives. It has done amazing things for the entire world, but it has also brought with it a dark undertone known as malware. Malware can affect absolutely anybody. Studies have shown that one out of every 239 emails in the world contains a virus within it, and this means almost everyone will encounter malware at some point. The effects of these attacks become quite apparent when a person knows that over eighty percent people who’ve had their identities stolen suffered the issue due to an online hacking assault.
Individuals are not, however, the sole victims of malware attacks. Businesses often face constant assault from malicious individuals who know how valuable a company’s information can be. Not even small businesses are safe from the threat of online mischief. It’s a scary fact that eighteen percent of malicious attacks on businesses happen to companies that have fewer than two hundred and fifty employees on staff. This is the second highest percentage, and is only beaten out by the fifty percent of attacks that occur to companies with over twenty-five hundred workers.
Individuals and companies also face a greater risk of detrimental effects when they live in certain countries. Ten countries in the world account for nearly eighty-three percent of all worldwide malware attacks. The United States receives the brunt of these attacks; falling victim to nearly forty percent of all the world’s online assaults. It seems that the more advanced a country is; the more malware attacks it’ll face.
