Techniques I Would Recommend
- Place a sign up link on your website if you haven’t already.
- Incorporate the link in Social Media, via apps and html.
- Allow customers to opt in via confirmation emails.
- In person. Conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs – just take names.
- Offer a free, useful course or tool that gets people interested in the company.
I would NOT Recommend
- Website pop-ups. I close these instantly, and it immediately puts me off the site.
- Flashing banner ads. Just say no.
- Buying mailing lists – unsolicited emails can get you marked as spam.
- Automatic sign-ups – irritating and semi-illegal.
- Sending 2-3 mailers a day. Think quality, not quantity.
